We are very pleased to announce that we will be working with Finnish artist Sami Korkiakoski. We will launch this partnership in July 2019 when we present a series of paintings in our coming group exhibition.
Sami graduated from the University of Art and design Helsinki and the Academy of fine arts Helsinki, holding both an MA and MFA in painting.
'I love line and that’s what my art is all about. Feelings and music play a big role in it, too.'
Abstract Expressionist Michael Goldberg used line as a major pictorial component in his paintings, as did artists like Cy Twombly but Sami Korkiakoski takes line to a whole new level. It is the primary compositional and structural element and area of investigation in his current body of work. Sami describes his work as 'line, rhythm and feeling' - his canvases echo and reverberate twisted energy, conjuring the notions of string theory and the manner in which complex systems and forms are built from fundamental building blocks.
Check out this interview with him from Young Space and stay tuned to see more work over the coming months in the lead-up to July!
