It is with great excitement that we announce the opening of TWFAx2, an interactive pop-up located in the Brisbane Quarter, part of the W Hotel, Brisbane's first 5 star hotel in 20 years.
We've teamed up with artist Matt Sheridan to present a stunning installation of 'Noodles for Tony' - Sheridan's latest painting-in-motion. Referencing the advancement of television from early black and white to todays HDR colour, 'Noodles for Tony' will ultimately switch to full high vis colour over the coming weeks.
Oscillating between painting and painting-in-motion, Sheridan's work addresses contemporary power relations between handmade physical reality and the click + drag mentality. By visualizing states of mind and moving them through architecture, across canvas and into sculptures, Sheridan’s work explores how instinct is enhanced, affected and distorted by digital video environments.
Sheridan is the 2018 recipient of the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, joining notable artists including Amy Sherald, Thortnton Willis, Alyson Shotz, and our very own Tom Savage. Sheridan received his BFA from NYU Tisch School of Art and his MFA from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. A recipient of numerous awards, grants and fellowships he exhibits across five continents most recently in Brazil, Japan and Australia.
We will also have a selection of new works available for viewing by Briony Barr, Riley Beaumont, Sebastian Helling, Jordan Kerwick, Clay Mahn, Max Manning, Fran O'Neill, Chris Trueman, and of course Matt Sheridan.
